The Reverend Derick Easter is the son of Rev. Dr. William and Lorene Easter and represents a legacy of preachers in his family. Pastor Easter is the proud pastor of the New St. Hurricane Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR. A native of Little Rock, AR, Pastor Easter is a product of Little Rock Central High School and graduated cum laude with distinction in his field from Philander Smith College with a bachelor of arts in Psychology. He received a Master of Public Administration from Webster University and a Master of Ministry from Louisiana Baptist Seminary. He is currently pursuing a PhD from Anderson University in Leadership.
His passion for excellence in ministry has afforded him the opportunity to serve on the faculty of the National Baptist Convention USA's Congress of Christian Education Pastor’s/Ministers Division and to minister and teach in conferences across the country on subjects such as media in ministry, leadership, associate minister training and strategic planning for churches.
Under Pastor Easter’s extraordinary leadership, New St. Hurricane Baptist Church has experienced tremendous growth and development. To accommodate its favor and growth Pastor Easter led the church in building a multi-million dollar state of the art children and youth center, an outreach distribution center and most recently an outdoor fitness park.
Pastor Easter’s passion for social and community engagement has allowed him to serve his community on several boards: He currently serves as a Project Consultant for the Arkansas Out of School Network a subgroup of Arkansas State University Childhood Services Program.
Pastor Easter, along with Dr. George Parks, Jr. has authored Mount Mediations - A Devotional based on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount with a companion workbook for personal or church-wide study.
Pastor Easter is an avid basketball fan, movie-goer, spades player and enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Keely Easter with two wonderful children.
